(August 31, 2004) - Jeffrey Specialty Equipment Corporation has reached a sales milestone, with its 100th Jeffrey® brand Chip-sizer™ rechipper now installed at a pulp and paper mill in Alabama. Specifically designed to cost-effectively reduce oversized wood chips for the pulp and paper industry, the Jeffrey Chip-sizer™ rechipper accommodates a wide range of overs and eliminates infeed plugging.

Keith Patterson, Manager of Applications and Technical Services for Jeffrey, attributes this success to the machine’s innovative no-knives technology, which yields typical recovery rates of 85 to 95 percent.  Pins and fines are nearly eliminated.

“The quality of the fiber is much higher with the Jeffrey Chip-sizer™ rechipper, compared with knife-type rechippers,” says a mill manager in Virginia. “When the screen floods, the Jeffrey Chip-sizer™ rechipper does not plug and the chip quality remains high.”

Patterson also notes that, with Jeffrey Chip-sizer™ rechipper, customers report minimal downtime. “When we ran a piece of ¾" x 4" x 8" metal into the rechipper, I thought we would be down for repairs,” said a vice-president of operations in Louisiana, “but we stopped the machine, pulled out the piece of metal, looked at the rotor and hammers, put it back together, and did not have any damage.”
